Fernheath Playful Families, Bournemouth

Local Bournemouth group Playful Families provide weekly family fun with new funding.

Local Bournemouth group Fernheath Playful Families celebrated a grant of £41,732 from People’s Health Trust, using money raised by The Health Lottery in the South West.

Playful Families is a new two-year project, which sets out to deliver a weekly programme of physical, social and sensory activities for parents and their children (aged under 12), living on the West Howe estate in Bournemouth.

Activities are developed and organised by a project management group comprised of local parents. These activities include family learning sessions, cookery classes, a stay and play social group, exercise classes and family-based events/trips throughout the year. The project aims to address issues of social or emotional isolation and unemployment.

Chris Lunn, The Health Lottery in the South West spokesperson, said: “The funds raised through The Health Lottery South West are changing and improving lives. It was clear that supporting Playful Families would have a great benefit to the local community.” To date, over £9.4 million has been raised for good causes groups in the South West.

Health Lottery South West is benefitting from Health Lottery tickets sold for all draws being held between 1 November and 30 November 2018. You can purchase Health Lottery tickets in advance for these draws online at www.healthlottery.co.uk or from more than 32,000 local retailers nationwide including The Post Office, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, ASDA, Morrisons and WH Smith.
